The Journal of Pak International Medical College (JPIMC) is a peer-reviewed, double-blind, fully open-access biomedical journal published quarterly by Pak International Medical College, Peshawar, Pakistan.

JPIMC is dedicated to advancing medical education, clinical practice, biomedical sciences, public health, and healthcare research through the publication and dissemination of scientifically sound, ethically conducted, and methodologically rigorous scholarly work.

Publication Frequency

JPIMC is published quarterly, with four regular issues per calendar year:

  • Issue 1: January–March

  • Issue 2: April–June

  • Issue 3: July–September

  • Issue 4: October–December

Special issues or supplements may be published when appropriate. Submissions to special issues are subject to the journal's applicable editorial, ethical, and peer-review requirements.

Open Access Policy

JPIMC is a fully open-access journal. All published articles are immediately available online without subscription charges, registration requirements, or an embargo period.

Readers may read, download, copy, distribute, and reuse published articles in accordance with the applicable Creative Commons license.

All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0).

This license permits users to share and adapt published material for non-commercial purposes, provided appropriate attribution is given, a link to the license is supplied, and any changes are indicated. All reuse must comply with the license terms.

Authors retain copyright of their published work, subject to the journal's publication agreement and licensing terms.

Editorial and Peer-Review Process

JPIMC follows a double-blind external peer-review process for research manuscripts.

All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial assessment to evaluate their suitability for the journal, originality, scientific quality, methodological soundness, ethical compliance, and reporting quality.

Manuscripts that pass the initial assessment are sent for external peer review. Each research article is evaluated by at least two independent external reviewers with relevant subject expertise.

During double-blind peer review, the identities of authors are concealed from reviewers, and reviewers' identities are concealed from authors.

Reviewers assess manuscripts for originality, scientific validity, methodological and statistical quality, ethical compliance, relevance, reporting quality, and interpretation of findings.

Based on reviewer recommendations and the editor's assessment, a manuscript may be accepted, returned for minor or major revision, or rejected. The final publication decision rests with the Editor-in-Chief or an appropriately delegated editor.

Editorials, letters, and other non-research content may undergo an appropriate editorial assessment according to the journal's policies.

Editorial Standards and Publication Ethics

JPIMC is committed to publication ethics, editorial independence, confidentiality, transparency, and research integrity.

The journal draws on relevant recommendations and guidance from:

Authors must comply with applicable requirements concerning:

  • Data Availability Statements

  • Plagiarism and inappropriate text overlap

  • Relevant research reporting guidelines

Authors should follow applicable reporting standards, including CONSORT, STROBE, PRISMA, CARE, STARD, ARRIVE, and COREQ, as appropriate to their study design.

Case Reports and Patient Consent

JPIMC requires authors to comply with applicable ethical and confidentiality requirements when submitting case reports and case series.

Written informed consent for publication must be obtained where required, particularly when a manuscript contains potentially identifiable clinical information, photographs, radiological images, pathological images, or other identifiable patient material.

Authors must remove unnecessary identifying information and include an appropriate statement regarding consent for publication. The CARE reporting guideline should be followed where applicable.

Authors retain copyright of their published work, subject to the journal's publication agreement.

Published articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0).

Digital Archiving and Preservation

JPIMC uses the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) preservation system to support the long-term preservation and continued availability of its published scholarly content.
